A Moment in December
Whilst working with families in my role as a Midwife and Lactation Consultant, I have found the most common questions mums have postnatally is “Why am I finding this so hard?”, “What is the right way to do this?” I am then able to reassure that they are not alone, that they deserve support and that there is many ways to go about this and I will help them find their way.
Most mothers will experience some challenges or difficulties with their new babies. Whether it is with breastfeeding, recovery after the birth or transitioning into new family dynamics. It is important that I can help mums to find solutions to their concerns that will suit their family and their own unique lifestyle. There are no hard and fast rules, and my clients are the experts on knowing what is best for themselves and their families. They just need a little help in recognising what that is. With some nurturing and education I am able to leave families with the tools to achieve that.
That is why I love this role so much, because no two mothers or families are the same and it never ceases to amaze me the resilience and the creativity they have to construct their own journeys.
I feel very privileged to be a part of these journeys.
